Fallout 4 is a huge game with tons of places to visit, enemies to conquer, items to pick up, settlements to build, quests to complete, and characters to meet.
You won’t be able to see and do everything in 100 hours and there’s a good chance you won’t be able to do it in 400 hours either it’s that deep. And it’s gameplay is only going to get deeper as time goes on thanks to mods and DLC.
Unofficial Fallout 4 mods are already available for PC but Bethesda plans to release an official mod tool for developers that will ultimately lead to mods for PC, Xbox One and PS4. These mods will help to extend the life of the game for many. So will the DLC.
Bethesda’s confirmed plans to release downloadable content for Fallout 4 though many of the specifics remain in the shadows as we approach the end of 2015 and the start of the new year. With an eye towards the future, we want to touch on a few things that we do know about Fallout 4 DLC and a few things we think we might know about Fallout 4 DLC at this time.
Fallout 4 DLC Release Date
Bethesda hasn’t outlined a specific release date for the first Fallout 4 DLC but we do have a window to look forward to.
While we don’t have a month or date, we do know that the company plans to release the first Fallout 4 DLC in early 2016. Early is an ambiguous word but it should, at the very least, mean a release in the first half of the year.
Now this first release will be one of several. The company hasn’t confirmed it in a blog post but Todd Howard did mention that there will be several expansion packs and that the releases will continue well into 2016.
If you played Skyrim, this shouldn’t come as any surprise. For Skyrim, Todd Howard and Co. cooked up three paid expansions which included Dawnguard, Hearthfire, and Dragonborn.
In addition to this paid Fallout 4 DLC, gamers can expect a number of free updates that bring bug fixes and new features.
The company hasn’t revealed what those new features will be but for Skyrim the company added “mounted combat, legendary mode, kill cams, visual enhancements and more” for free.
Fallout 4 Season Pass
The developer is offering a $30 Fallout 4 Season Pass for all three platforms (Steam, PS4 and Xbox One). The Season Pass will net you all of the game’s paid DLC. Bethesda claims that its DLC will be worth $40 at least which, if true, makes the Season Pass a deal.
You can buy the Season Pass just about anywhere: PlayStation Store, Microsoft Store, Steam, various retailers.
We continue to get questions about the Fallout 4 Season Pass. And while some of you might be fine spending $30 knowing that you’ll play anything and everything Bethesda puts out, many others will be better off waiting until next year.
Fallout 4 Season Pass Deals
There are tons of Fallout 4 deals out there but there are also Fallout 4 Season Pass deals that take the price down from its $30 perch.
One of the best deals out right now is from Green Man Gaming. The retailer is offering 20% off the Fallout 4Season Pass.
We bring this up because it’s clear that you probably won’t have to pay $30 for the Season Pass in the future. We’re not sure how much the expansions might cost individually but there’s a good chance we’ll see on deals on the individual releases as well.
No Fallout 4 DLC Exclusives
Bethesda and Microsoft have formed a close partnership but that won’t translate into any Fallout 4 DLC exclusives for Xbox One.
The developer has confirmed that there won’t be any exclusive Fallout 4 DLC, something that should be music to the ears of PS4 owners everywhere.
The appears to encompass the timing as well. And if true, it would be a little bit different from Bethesda’s plans for Fallout 4mods.
Fallout 4 mods will be coming to PC first followed by Xbox One and then PlayStation 4.
Fallout 4 DLC Content
Unfortunately, we still don’t know what Bethesda is cooking up but we do have some ideas and some possible clues.
The DLC for Fallout 3 and Elder Scrolls Skyrim was all pretty similar. The add-ons included new quests, new characters, new places to explore, and new items.
This is pretty standard for open world RPGs like Fallout 4 and we’d be surprised if Bethesda drifted away from this formula with Fallout 4’s downloadable content.
While there are tons of theories out there, one of the most intriguing comes in the form of some discovering made underwater in the Commonwealth.
One gamer spent 30+ hours underwater exploring and made some pretty interesting finds. While nothing is confirmed, many gamers are convinced that Bethesda will be adding underwater content
If true, it would likely be just one piece of the puzzle. Fallout 4’s map is huge and there’s potential everywhere..
